Hebes Chasma - False Color
The THEMIS VIS camera contains 5 filters. The data from different filters can be combined in multiple ways to create a false color image. These false color images may reveal subtle variations of the surface not easily identified in a single band image. Today's false color image shows part of the southern cliff face of Hebes Chasma. Hebes Chasma is an inclosed basin not connected to Valles Marineris. It is 319 km long (east/west, 198 miles), 130 km wide (north/south, 81miles) and up to 8km (5 miles) deep.
